Gifts your customers will reach for and use

Choosing an appropriate promotional gift isn’t difficult if you know your customer. This may be difficult if the company is large and therefore, a bit impersonal. However, looking at the industry in which you are gifting may be a great help. Regardless of the industry however, it is important to choose a promotional gift that is useful. The concept of the gift is twofold – you want to express thanks while promoting your company. It is imperative that the gift you give be something that will remain on display or in use.

For clients in the service industry, there are hundreds of options. In this area in particular, it will most likely be someone other than an office worker who will receive (or at least deserve) the promotional gift. Shipping departments have little need for an engraved clock; and most food service workers won’t have an on the job opportunity to display a new laptop bag. For these companies practical gifts are much more effective even if they don’t seem to be elegant. For example, a shipping and receiving department may be thrilled over personalised box cutters or pocket knives since that’s something that is always on hand and in use. Food service workers may appreciate a watch with a company logo because of the time sensitive nature of their business.

Office workers are a bit easier since there are desks to house useful items such as letter openers, staplers, business cards holders and more. Just be sure that the gift stands out in some way and is significant enough to be appreciated.
